80 Flavours Ice Cream

If you live on Edmonton’s south side there is a good chance you have noticed 80 Flavours Ice Cream. It’s the giant Ice Cream Truck Ice Cream Semi, parked on the side of Gateway Boulevard right before the Whitemud. It’s brightly coloured, and somewhat out of place among “motel alley,” so you really can’t miss it.

Popbar

Popbar West Edmonton Mall A couple of weeks ago I received an email from the people behind Popbar inviting me to their opening event that day. I was actually planning to go to West Edmonton Mall anyway, so although the invitation was a little last minute, I was able to attend. I got to West Edmonton Mall at about 5:30 and headed over to Popbar, which is located on the second level, right by the Tim Hortons on the ice rink. There was already a bit of a line forming, although no sign of any sort of special event activities. As I waited in line I was offered a complimentary mini Cream “Popgelato” Bar dipped in chocolate. The gelato was so thick and creamy, and the chocolate coating was made with wonderful, real, rich chocolate. It was like a really good, gourmet Dilly Bar. When I got to the front of the line, I asked for Reuben, as instructed in my invitation. It turns out, Reuben is actually the founder of Popbar, who had flown into Edmonton …

The Best Chocolate Chip Cookies & Bust a Move

I think one of the best things anyone can do is give back. Whether it is with your time, your money, your thanks, your brain-power or whatever it is you have to give, I think it’s really important. It can be so easy to spend so much time just thinking about what you can get out of life, rather than thinking about what it is that you can give back. PCL, the company that I work for, has a put a team in Bust a Move since the event’s inception a couple of years ago. This year I have joined the team and will be bustin’ my a$$, exercising, for 6 hours, to raise funds for Breast Health in Alberta. I am proud to say that, as they have in previous years, PCL is leading the pack with total fundraising dollars. I’ve been so fortunate to have all sorts of wonderful friends and family support me with this fundraiser, and I really wanted to do a little something to say thank you. So, if you …

12 Posts of Christmas – Salted Caramel Crème Brûlée

Merry Christmas! I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas. I know I sure I did! This Christmas was full of good food and family. My family spent Christmas Eve with some of Lauren’s family, which was a lot of fun. And the evening was made even better, because we got to enjoy food straight from Lauren’s uncle’s outdoor, wood burning pizza oven. Look, I love spending time with my family, but I was also pretty pumped about trying that pizza…. and I was not disappointed. Crème fraîche, fig and arugula pizza? Check. Blue cheese, fig jam, walnut and apple pizza? Check. Potato and parmesan pizza, finished with truffle oil? Check. The only problem now is to figure out how I can afford to import a pizza oven from Italy and where I can fit it in my condo. 😉 Christmas Day I spent with my family, where we enjoyed some delicious Corn Flake Crusted French Toast and Mimosas for breakfast, after opening up our presents and stockings. For dinner, we indulged in my mom’s traditional …

Pumpkin Pie

Happy Thanksgiving Everybody! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend and were able to spend some time enjoying the company of your friends and family, or whomever you are thankful for this year. This Thanksgiving I spent some quality time with my family, which was absolutely wonderful. This holiday was made even more special because it was the last holiday that I will celebrate while living at home! I’d mentioned that I had some pretty exciting changes going on for me right now and I finally feel like I can talk about this one. I purchased a condo a couple of months ago and I am just a few days away from possession now. I still feel a little nervous talking about it, like I could somehow jinx it, but I am also so excited and happy to share this news. So, this Thanksgiving, as usual, I am thankful for my wonderful friends and family, but I am extra thankful for my amazing parents who have always given me nothing but love and support …

Juliette et Chocolat in Montreal

Juliette et Chocolat Plateau Mont-Royal 3600 Boulevard Saint Laurent Montreal, QC If there is one thing that I love to spend my hard-earned dollars on, probably just as much as on a great meal, its clothes. Not much can top the feeling of putting on a new outfit and just knowing you look great. I probably have more clothes than any one person needs, which isn’t helped by the fact that I have issues donating old clothes, (“but… it still fits… and I might use it for a costume one day!) but I just can’t help myself. So, when I discovered that my cousin Kyler’s wonderful girlfriend, Jackie, and her friend, Debbie, had started a fashion blog based out of Montreal, called Bouquet of Frocks, you better believe I was checking out their blog every day. Both girls have such an awesome sense of style, mixing vintage pieces with beautiful new items. If you consider yourself a fashionista, I definitely recommend checking them out! About a month ago, Jackie contacted me to see if I wanted to do …
